Other Tax Efficient Ways of Donating to Isabel Hospice
Gift Aid Your DonationIf you are a UK tax payer and you make a donation to Isabel Hospice, we can claim back the basic rate of tax on your donation (currently 25p in the £ plus 3p transitional relief). In order for us to do this you must have paid sufficient tax to cover the amount being reclaimed on any donations you have made during the financial year. You simply need to complete a Gift Aid form
Downloadable Gift Aid Formand return it to us.
Payroll GivingThis is a system whereby you can donate to charity from your salary or pension before tax has been paid, thereby increasing the value of the gift at no extra cost to yourself. For more information call our Corporate Fundraiser, Julie North, on 01707 382547
Giving Assets to CharityYou can claim Income Tax Relief and get relief from Capital Gains Tax on gifts to charity of UK land, buildings or shares which are listed on a qualifying stock exchange, or if you sell shares to a charity at less than their market value. Click for more information on Gifting Shares to Isabel Hospice
Gifting SharesDonating to charity through your Self Assessment tax returnIf you complete a Self Assessment tax return and are due to receive a tax refund, you may opt to donate all or part of this repayment directly to a charity of your choice, which is known as Self Assessment Giving or SA Donate. Once you have completed your tax return all you have to do is to complete form SA100 - Giving your tax repayment to charity. The benefit of this is that the repayment can be made as a Gift Aid donation, provided you have paid at least as much in tax as the value of your donation to the charity. Your tax refund plus any Gift Aid is then paid by HMRC straight into the charity's bank account with no additional work for yourself or the charity.
Gifts in WillsAny gift to Isabel Hospice in your Will is free of Inheritance Tax. For further information see our page on Gifts in Wills
Leaving A Gift in Your Will Under the seven year rule, any gifts that you have made to the charity in the seven years prior to your death are also exempt from Inheritance Tax.
It is important that you keep details of any gifts that you make to charity in order to ensure that you claim the correct amount of tax relief and pay the right amount of tax.
