Isabel Hospice celebrates Long Service of Staff & Volunteers

As Isabel Hospice goes into its 35th year of providing free specialist end of life care in eastern Hertfordshire, we honoured 71 staff and volunteers, who have provided a combined 835 years of service, in an awards ceremony at Haileybury College.

They were given certificates and recognised for dedicating their time and passion to caring for local people. Robin Webb, Isabel Hospice CEO presented the certificates with Rod Leggetter, Chairman of Trustees. Robin said “I am honoured to be able to meet so many of you tonight, and although it has only been 13 days since my appointment as your Chief Executive I have been bowled over by your passion for what we do. Each and everyone one of you make a real difference to our patients and their families and without you, their lives which are difficult enough, would be much harder. Your dedication helps them to live well and make the most of every day; thank you for your amazing commitment.”

Twenty-five people received a 5 year long service awards, including volunteer shop assistants, patient drivers, receptionists and bedroom assistants. Twenty-three people received 10 year awards, including the Hospice’s Medical Director and Consultant, Dr Pia Amsler, a chaplaincy musician, day service volunteers, fundraising volunteers and staff nurses. Six were awarded 15 year service, including complementary therapy volunteers, and receptionists. Ten received 20 year wards including nurses, the trading manager for the Hospice’s shops, and fundraisers. Four received 25 year service awards, including senior staff nurses and fundraising and bedroom assistant volunteers.

Robin added “We were delighted to be able to recognise an incredible 30 year service by one staff member and two volunteers. Lori Vosper, is the Deputy Team Leader for our Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Ann Dowler and Renee Friend are fundraising volunteers, who between them have raised many thousands of pounds for the Hospice. An amazing achievement and we thank them all.”
