Top Fundraising Family in On Your Bike Event

Jo Morris and her family from Bishop's Stortford took part in our On Your Bike fundraising bike ride back in May and raised an incredible £1,611.38 in sponsorship for their 50k cycle challenge.

The team at Kinetic Cycles in Welwyn Garden City are kindly donating a bike to award Jo to thank her for her fantastic fundraising efforts. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jo and her family for working so hard to raise this extraordinary amount of funds, as they truly will make such a difference to the lives of local patients across East Hertfordshire!

Read Jo's motivation for taking part and raising money for Isabel Hospice...

"I took part in the event along with my husband and other family members including my 2 brothers, niece, nephew, cousin, my son (who unfortunately didn't finish, due to being unwell), his girlfriend and my daughters boyfriend and also my brothers partner.  We all had a wonderful day in the sunshine together and my 85 year old Dad was there at the finish line cheering us all on, which was a lovely surprise.

As a family, we have supported Isabel Hospice since 2011 when my Mum briefly received palliative care at home. Sadly she was only home for 3 days having been discharged from Lister Hospital with renal failure before she passed away. Her wish was to go home to be with her family in her final days and without the care and support from Isabel Hospice, her wish would not have been possible. In those few days, all of her family were by her bedside and My dad, my 2 brothers and myself held her hand as she took her final breath.

Not only are we eternally grateful for the care she received, but the ongoing support for us as a family during such a difficult time. Every year since, My Dad and I have attended the annual remembrance services and also the Lights of Love ceremonies, which we both get a great deal of comfort from.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all at Isabel Hospice for the amazing  work you do."
