Colour Me Happy 2016
The third Isabel Hospice Colour Me Happy 5k event at Cheshunt Park saw record breaking numbers on the day with 1,000 runners entering from across the county to take part to support the Hospice. The pictures from our fantastic volunteer Peter Bussey give you a glimpse of the fun that was had! Find Sharon Kaplan's official photos on our Facebook page.
Runners started in white t-shirts and ended multi-coloured as they were covered in powder paint at six different coloured paint stations around the scenic course which were sponsored by East Hertfordshire based companies Connect Scaffolding, Cariad Marketing, Mowers Food Services, PayPoint, Residential Management Group and Volker Wessels. Each company got a big team of volunteers to throw the colourful powder paint at the hundreds of participants
Beth Hardy the event organiser said ‘This was by far the best ever colour run event at the Hospice, not only did we see record breaking numbers in attendance, but the sun shined all day which boosted everyone’s spirits. It was lovely to see runners of all ages and abilities taking part with many running as a family, but more importantly it was great to see so many people coming together to support their local Hospice in such a fun way. The funds are still coming in, but we have already raised £17,000 for the Hospice with the hope of raising over £30,000 which could help us fund an incredible 1071 hours of nursing care to support local patients.
There are so many people that we would like to thank for making the event possible. We would firstly like to thank Broxbourne Council and Cheshunt Park Golf Centre for allowing us to host the run at Cheshunt Park, and for being great supporters of the event from the beginning. We would also like to thank our colour station sponsors and to AMP Air for kindly sponsoring our t-shirts. Thank you to all of the hospice volunteers for giving up their time to help at the event which also includes the Fit&Well team who ran the warm up and to Active Broxbourne and Give your town the run around. Thank you to Fine Confectionary, Tesco Cheshunt, Tesco Bishops Stortford, Morrisons Welwyn Garden City, Waitrose Welwyn Garden City, Cupcake Monster Co, Rae Duggan for donating cupcakes and refreshments and a big thank you to Volker Wessels, Eden Springs and Tesco for donating bottles of water. Thank you to all of the local companies who donated raffle prizes, including Cheshunt Marriott, Go Ape, Woburn Safari Park, Paradise Wildlife Park, Lee Valley, Hertford House Hotel. Thank you to Sharon Kaplan, Dave Hadley, Peter Bussey and Tom Hoey for being our official photographers. Thank you to British Red Cross for providing first aid cover and to Dominos pizza, Pukka Tukka, Mr H productions, Heidis Kitchen, Steves ices and Go Outdoors for supporting the event.
A massive well done to Beth and Megan who have worked tirelessly to put on this event. It would not have been the huge success it was without their efforts.
