Assistant Trading Manager, Shops

Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 9-12 months (Maternity Leave Cover) Full time 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £21,000 per annum
Location: Base location, Head Office, Welwyn Garden City with travel throughout eastern Hertfordshire

Isabel Hospice currently has a full time Assistant Trading Manager, working within the eastern Hertfordshire area with a base location of Welwyn Garden City.

We are seeking a passionate, creative and sales motivated individual to support the delivery of high quality, cost effective income generation through the shops, acting as Relief Manager when required.

You will be required to:

  • Maximise shop profits through delivery of retail strategy
  • Manage staffing rotas to ensure all shops are staffed appropriately
  • Support the Trading Manager with the day to day management of shop staff and volunteers
  • Support staff and volunteers to provide consistent, high quality customer service using best practice
  • Handle day to day shop operational issues effectively
  • Manage any shop effectively when required
  • Support, manage and deliver change projects as required
  • Ensure conformance to legal and regulatory standards such as health and safety.

Person specification

  • Experience of retail shop management, (charity retail would be desirable)
  • Communicates well, both verbally and in writing
  • Good people skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Show understanding, respect and consideration for others at all times
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Demonstrates a ‘can do’ approach to their work
  • Leads by example and demonstrates a positive attitude at all times
  • A strong team player
  • Proficient in the use of email, word and excel packages and the internet
