A long established and successful charity, Isabel Hospice is the only provider of Specialist Palliative Care to adults with life limiting illnesses in Eastern Hertfordshire. A dynamic and evolving service is offered to a population of around 370,000, either in the patient’s own home, nursing homes, our hospice day services or at our In-Patient Unit. We receive 1000-1200 referrals each year.
We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Consultant to join the palliative care team here at Isabel Hospice. As the team looks to the future, now is the perfect time to join us as we begin to lay down new strategy and develop implementation plans moving forward. We are actively developing our existing clinical services, seeking to offer even greater integrated care with the primary and tertiary sector.
The post holder will provide clinical leadership to patients and staff at our In Patient Unit and work in collaboration with Dr Pia Amsler, Medical Director, in the provision of community and domiciliary palliative care. The successful candidate will be robustly supported by a medical team consisting of an Associate Specialist, three Specialty Doctors and two doctors in training as well as Community Nurse Specialists and Health Care Professionals. We pride ourselves on our multidisciplinary approach from front door and on to support in the community.
In addition to strong leadership skills the successful candidate will have the ability to network and communicate with a large number of practitioners across a wide geographical area and be able to work harmoniously and effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential. A strong commitment to teaching, research and audit will be essential.
Ideally the post holder should be fully GMC registered with a licence to practise, with inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or interview within 6 months of CCST/CCT date; along with membership of the Royal College of Physicians. This post has flexibility in that it can support either full time or less than full time worker to 6PA’s per week.
