Are you already a Sister/Charge Nurse seeking a new challenge or direction or perhaps you are a Senior Staff Nurse with lots of experience managing a team or shift and looking to move into your first Sister/Charge Nurse post?   If so, we would like to hear from you.  We are recruiting for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join our In Patient Unit on either a full time or part time basis.

Isabel Hospice is the only provider of Specialist Palliative Care to adults with life limiting illnesses in Eastern Hertfordshire.  We offer our services to a population of around 370,000, either at our In Patient Unit, our hospice Day Services or in the patient’s own home.

Our In Patient Unit is a 12 bedded unit and provides specialist palliative care for patients and their families.  Working as part of a small team within our wider multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of holistic care are provided to patients and families.   You will provide strong clinical leadership to staff and monitor the quality of care, ensuring that individual needs are assessed and appropriate care plans developed.  You will be responsible for leading shifts and supervising the work of qualified and unqualified staff, giving clear direction, guidance and support.  You will deputise for the Team Leader when required and will need to play a key part in arranging the off duty rotas, conducting staff appraisals and the ongoing development of staff.

To be considered for this post you will need to be a first level registered nurse with current NMC registration and have experience of working with patients who have complex needs or who are coming to the end of their lives. Previous experience of leading and managing a team and providing staff development is essential and you will need to be a good team player, flexible in your approach and able to work a full range of shifts including Nights, Weekends and Bank Holidays.

This role will give you the opportunity to develop your career and expand both your knowledge and skills with full support from a comprehensive training and education programme and the opportunity to work within a small, friendly yet highly professional team where the highest standards are required from all staff.

We offer annual leave of 27 days plus bank holidays and rising with service to 33 days, plus pension and life assurance scheme. If you are currently working within the NHS or contributing to the NHS Pension scheme through another employer you will be able to continue with this pension membership and we also honour long service NHS long service.
