Our first ever Bridges of London sponsored walk took place yesterday on the 25th September. Over 400 walkers took on the 11 mile challenge and crossed 12 iconic bridges across the capital city in the process.
The event has raised over £15,000 so far, and this figure is expected to top over £20,000 once all the sponsorship money has been collected.
Beth Hardy, our Mass Events Manager said “This fundraising event idea really sparked something with our supporters and we were delighted that so many people took part. It was a beautiful September day and the atmosphere was great. We would like to thank Ramblers Worldwide Holidays for sponsoring the event and putting in a team too. The coaches left from Sir Frederic Osbourne School in Welwyn Garden City, so thanks to them for their support. Many walkers chose to meet us in London and made their own way there by train from all over Hertfordshire.

Tesco and General Mills supplied water and cereal bars for our walkers and for a sugar boost we had goody bags of sweets donated by the Fine Confectionary Company. Lindsey Peters Fitness came on board and put in a team and our stalwart walk leaders Jeremy Waldron and Godfrey Skinner did a great job, along with all our volunteers, without whom we could not have put on such a successful event.
Thank you to everyone for taking part. I loved looking through participant photos next to the legendary London landmarks, kindly taken by some of the walkers and Mandy Davies. We have been overwhelmed by the support and having looked at the JustGiving pages, everyone’s stories have been really touching and shown me just how important Isabel Hospice is to so many of us.’
