Hoddesdon Man Wins £5,000 in the Cover the Cost of Christmas Draw
An Isabel Hospice supporter, who has helped us with donations since 2005 has won £5,000 cash in the draw. The £1 ticket has bagged Don Stevenson a fantastic cash prize.
Mr Stevenson said “I can’t quite believe it. I thought it was a joke. I will spend my winnings on a holiday and on my new twin grandchildren.” The winning ticket was drawn by Isabel Hospice patient, Gill Downes (54) with a little help from Hospice Staff Nurse, Julie Hickmott. Gill said “It was a real pleasure to do this for the Hospice, and a small way of me giving something back for the wonderful care I have received from them.”
Laura Pigott, community fundraiser for the Hospice said “This feel good fundraiser has raised in the region of £20,000 for the Hospice. We are delighted that a local supporter has won the cash. The ticket was drawn by one of our patients, and she said it made her day! Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket. Your support has enabled us to pay for 142 home visits by our community Clinical Nurse Specialists, offering holistic, palliative care to local people living with life-shortening illnesses such as cancer, neurological, lung and heart conditions. Our next draw will be in the Spring. Who will the lucky winner be? “
