Garden of Memories Ceremony supports bereaved families

The Isabel Hospice Garden of Memories Summer Remembrance Ceremony took place at Van Hage, Great Amwell on Saturday. The annual service is organised to support bereaved families. The ceremony is in its 4th year and saw 265 people being remembered by loved ones and raised around £5,610 for the local charity. This figure would cover the costs of our Family Support Team for a week.

Laura Pigott, Community Fundraiser for Isabel Hospice said “We invite people to the Garden of Memories each year to remember their loved ones. They make a dedication and then the name of that person is written on a wooden sunflower that is planted in the garden. We know that it brings comfort and this year saw more people than ever attend the ceremony which included songs and readings.

We’d like to thank Van Hage for hosting the ceremony again, Jill Oxborrow for singing so beautifully and Stuart Storey for reading and Barbara Doherty MBE, Isabel Hospice President for presiding over the event. “
