What do you want to do before you die? You won’t die from talking about death, and it could make life better, so let’s talk about it!
Each year an Awareness Week is held to encourage conversation around what can be seen as difficult topics and this year from 14th – 20th May, we will be running a number of FREE events to help stimulate the conversation.
· Death and Dying Coffee Mornings – it’s good to talk! (11:30am – 1:30pm, 14th & 17th May at our Living Well with Isabel Community Hub, Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City and 15th May at Costa Coffee, Waltham Cross High Street)
· Seven Songs for a Long Life – Film (2pm – 5pm, 14th May at our Living Well with Isabel Community Hub, Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City)
· Don’t Leave Me Now – Play (11:30am – 4:30pm, 22nd May at our Living Well with Isabel Community Hub, Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City)
Below are some quotes from a few of our patients:
“It was a massive relief to hear a Hospice nurse acknowledge that in all likelihood, I won’t live to see my toddler go to school and I thank them for that honesty.”
“At the Living Well sessions they are helping me make memory boxes for my family and write letters to my husband. Now, when the time comes, I have friends here at the Hospice I can rely on.”
“One day I found a letter in my son’s school blazer written to by him, to himself saying how scared he was of me dying. I was heartbroken and spoke to my Hospice nurse. He now sees their art therapist and I’m not worried about my kids after I’ve gone. The Hospice aren’t strangers to them anymore and that makes a big difference.”
Come along to one of our events and join in the conversation!
