Did you find a rock with a picture of a ladybird, a smiley face or even a Welsh dragon in Welwyn Garden City? What’s is all about you ask?
Laura Pigott, Community Fundraiser said “The patients who visit Hospice’s Living Well Hub in Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City, have been painting a selection of rocks as part of their art therapy, and now all 20 have been hidden for local families to find. The #Rocks craze has been sweeping the country, and as the summer holidays are here, we challenge Welwyn Garden City residents to go out and about to find #IsabelRocks.
Deborah Howgarth, Art Therapist said “The aim of Art Therapy support at Isabel Hospice is to offer psychological support through creativity and talking to patients and their families both pre-bereaved and bereaved. Art Therapy is not about artistic ability as we encourage an experimental approach to creativity. Many people say I can’t draw, but we say “try something new and see what happens’.
Laura added “It has been wonderful to see our patients over the weeks coming up with designs and carefully painting their individual rocks, enjoying themselves in such a creative way. If you have been lucky enough to find a rock and you are thinking, well what do I do now? We really encourage you visit our #IsabelRocks Facebook group. Share a photo tell us where you found your rock. If you have enjoyed finding the rock, painted by our one patients, then we encourage you to make a donation of any size and visit to our JustGiving Page.
Remember you can either keep the rock or hide it somewhere in Welwyn Garden City, for someone else to find! This is a simple activity that anyone can take part in, young or old. Please take care and use common sense when hiding or retrieving rocks. Have fun!”
