UPDATE - Monday 12th November
We now know that we lost over 600 bags of donated stock and valuable winter items such as coats, boots, handbags and knitwear. We also had to throw away lots of furniture which was water damaged and bric-a-brac items such as ornaments and toys, games and DVDs.
We are asking members of the public to have a Christmas clear out, and take any bags of donated items to our shops. We are unable to store items at our HQ or Warehouse, so the shops are ready and able to accept your donations.
We also ask local companies to hold a 'Isabel Stock Donation Day' at their premises, and encourage their staff to bring in donations. We will then send a van to collected the goods, and distribute them amongst our shops.
Please help us this week to make up lost stock as every item that was ruined is lost revenue for the Hospice and so could impact on the care we can give local people.
Saturday 10th November
The Warehouse (Norton Building) was broken into overnight, and water pipes damaged which has led to thousands of gallons of water flooding into our stock room, damaging it.
Following an appeal, 50 local people, staff and hospice volunteers came to the rescue and helped us move damaged and undamaged stock out of the flooded premises.
- We are appealing for stock to be taken to our Isabel Hospice shops, not our HQ or Warehouse, so we have enough goods to sell in the run up to Christmas.
We think that thousands of £ of stock has been water damaged and the police are on scene as vandalism is suspected.
Please help by taking your pre-loved items to any of our shops.
