I have been working on the Isabel Hospice fundraising team for over two years and my job role  focuses on organising the mass fundraising events in the community. Since starting at the hospice I have been fortunate enough to work on many fun filled fundraisers including our annual cycle ride in Bishops Stortford, Colour Me Happy 5k, Firewalk, Starlight walk and I have also had the opportunity to organise some incredible concerts.

My favourite part about the job is building relationships with the many local suppliers, companies, venues, participants and volunteers who support our events. It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly generous and supportive our community is and I can honestly the say the events wouldn’t be possible without everyone getting involved.

My highlight of working at the hospice is definitely taking part in our Fire and Ice Challenge in March last year which was a 5 day trek up Eyjafjallajökull, the famous volcano in Iceland that erupted in 2010. Working at the hospice has given me so many incredible memories and I have taken part in lots of events that have taken me out of my comfort zone, but I have had so much fun in the process which is what fundraising is all about.

I have worked for Isabel Hospice for 6 years. I started working on the Switchboard then after a few years moved to the IT department, and finally to my job now in Family Support.  I can honestly say I love my job and feel like I have my forever job!

I work as the team administrator for a Multi-disciplinary team which includes Counsellors, Social workers, Chaplaincy, Bereavement and child Services. I also do the administration for our Bereavement Coffee Morning which is run every week by volunteers to help relatives of our patients cope with their loss and spend time with people in similar circumstances.

Our work, which includes lots of volunteers, helps support patients and families coming to terms with a change in their normal lives.  I feel very passionate about Isabel Hospice and what we do as a Charity.  I know the services we offer make a difference to a lot of the families of our patients, we receive some lovely thank you letters. I work with a lot of amazing people and feel blessed to be part of something amazing that helps our local community.
