Whilst our In-Patient Unit makes every effort to be as warm, comfortable and welcoming as possible, for some of our patients – there is no place like home.

And this is never more true than at Christmas-time.

Whether it’s watching their children open their presents on Christmas morning, sitting down to their partner’s home-cooked Christmas dinner or gathering together as a family to watch a Christmas movie, there are countless reasons a person may prefer to spend the Christmas period at home with their loved ones.

And for some of our patients, this Christmas may sadly be their last – making it their most important Christmas ever.

That is where our Hospice at Home team comes in.

On Christmas Eve, one of the nurses from our team who was supporting the family had put the carrot outside for Rudolph and made footprints in the snow so the children thought Father Christmas had visited.

This is just one example of the many ways that, thanks to kind people like you, our Hospice at Home team can give families the gift of memories to be treasured at Christmas-time for years to come.”

Whilst the memories of Christmas at home that we can help families make are priceless, and the care that we give them is provided free of charge – it is not without cost.

It costs £12,780 to keep the Hospice at Home service running over the Christmas period.

We believe it it’s worth the cost to keep families at home together at Christmas, but this is only possible with your help.
