A long established and successful charity, Isabel Hospice is the only provider of Specialist Palliative Care to adults with life limiting illnesses in Eastern Hertfordshire. A dynamic and evolving service is offered to a population of around 370,000, either in the patient’s own home, nursing homes, our hospice day services or at our In-Patient Unit.
Our Hospice at Home service has developed rapidly within the last twelve months and we are continuing to develop our services to improve the quality of end of life care for greater numbers of patients, enabling them to choose their preferred place of care.
We are recruiting for a Senior Staff Nurse to work within the Hospice at Home service, triaging referrals and urgent calls, providing a Rapid Response in the community as part of a hands on nursing team. This will include providing and co-ordinating individualised care and support to patients and their families in their own home at the end of life, promoting effective and efficient working and communication with other community professionals.
This is an exciting time to be joining our team and will give you the opportunity to develop your leadership skills whilst maintaining your hands on clinical skills in the community. You will ensure the highest quality care at all times and strive to increase the team's effectiveness, whilst deputising for the Team Leader – Hospice @ Home, when required, assisting with staff appraisals and providing support for volunteers. We offer excellent training and development opportunities. Longer term career prospects within this role are likely to include development as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Hours of work are between 9am and 9pm Monday to Friday to be worked on a rota basis with inclusion on the weekend working rota of approximately 1:11 weekends.
To apply you will need to be a Level 1 registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years post registration experience. You must have palliative care/oncology experience and experience of working with imminently dying patients. Community experience is preferable.
