At Isabel Hospice, we pride ourselves on the outstanding care we have been providing for 40 years. It is an exciting time for us, as we look to support even more families by extending our valuable services.
- Do you want to be part of a team that delivers excellent palliative care?
- Do you want to encourage patients and families to make the most of life at a precious time?
- Do you want to use your skills to do something worthwhile for the community?
To support our ambition, we are looking for new members with fresh ideas to join our Board of Trustees. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that makes a real difference to people with life-limiting illness, and their relatives.
Helen Glenister, CEO, said: “We are looking for ordinary people to do extraordinary things. As a trustee, you have the chance to shape the work of an organisation that ensures great work that really matters. We want to hear from dynamic, passionate people, with enthusiasm and commitment, who want to be part of a team that makes a significant difference to the quality of life of those who need it the most.”
As a trustee you will play a fundamental role in the strategic development of the organisation which allows you to apply your unique skillset and experience to complement that of our existing team, while also learning from others.
Trustees are also responsible for oversight and governance, guiding the direction of the charity and its work. They act as ambassadors for the Hospice by putting the trust’s beneficiaries at the heart of everything we do.
Previous experience of hospice care is not required, and we encourage first-time trustees to apply. Knowledge and experience you have gained from other sectors will prove just as important. We will invest in your training and development and even offer a buddy system with another trustee.
You will have a vital part to play in setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance, as well as upholding the reputation and values of the Hospice.
We are particularly looking for those with a background in clinical, NHS, local authority, social care, fundraising, business development, digital and transformation, marketing, branding, IT, retail, human resources, property and facilities management, legal and stakeholder engagement within our area of eastern Hertfordshire.
Isabel Hospice is a registered charity, with more than 160 staff and over 600 volunteers, which provides support and care through our Hospice at Home, In-Patient Unit, Community Team, Living Well with Isabel programme and our Family and Bereavement support service. Like many other hospices, we rely on our local communities and the income generated through our various fundraising initiatives, legacies and network of charity shops to fund our services. This will need to continue to grow, as we look to expand further.
