The Coping Well programme is a series of sessions covering topics aimed to help you with the changes and challenges of a life-limiting illness.
The sessions are for you as a patient to meet and engage with others in a safe place to share experiences and challenges that affect you with your particular illness and which impacts on your quality of life.
During the sessions we will explore ways to help you cope better with difficult emotions such as anxiety, stress and low mood. The session will be facilitated by a member of our Family Support team.
The sessions are flexible and will provide you with an opportunity to receive and share information and support as well as share tips and hints with others.
You will be encouraged to use a diary to record challenges you experience but also to identify your own character strengths.
Who can attend?
The sessions are for patients that are known to a member of the Isabel Hospice team. This could be your Nurse, Doctor, Occupational Therapist, Counsellor or alternatively another health and social care professional with whom you are currently in contact, or a member of the Isabel Hospice Family Support Team.
Groups are not for everyone but we all bring something different to a group and people often benefit from sharing with others in a similar situation to themselves.
If you have specific needs that we need to be aware of to enable you to attend, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate these.
Where are the sessions held?
Each session will be held at Hall Grove Day Service in Welwyn Garden City. (Please see enclosed flyer)
