Isabel Hospice took me under their wing at a time when I was really struggling at home. I have cancer in my spine which has spread from my prostate and although I live in a bungalow my mobility before I came into contact with the Hospice was really limited.
I was visited at home by one of the Hospice nurses and she suggested I went into the In-Patient Unit to work on improving my mobility. I just fell in love with all the nurses there, they inspired me to feel good and their care got my pain under control, something I just couldn’t manage at home.
Now I can actually get out and about. I have been discharged to a nursing home and in fact my son came over and for Father’s Day we went out to the pub. That’s not something I thought I’d be doing when I first heard the word ‘Hospice.’
