What is Care for Swim?

Care for a Swim is a swimming challenge for anyone who’s passionate about staying active and supporting local hospice care.

This September, we’re challenging you to swim 21km or ‘half a swimathon’ to help raise vital funds for the palliative care provided by Isabel Hospice. That’s the equivalent of 840 lengths in a standard 25m pool — or just under 30 lengths a day!

How will you swim your 21km?

You can swim your 21km challenge wherever suits you best:

  • Local pool
  • Favourite beach
  • Nearest lake

We recommend choosing a setting that you enjoy and feel most comfortable in, whether it’s the steady pace of lane swimming at your local leisure centre, the invigorating waves of the sea, or the peaceful calm of open water.

Your challenge, your way!

Complete the challenge your way in the time you have. Here are some ways you can get yourself up to 21km by the end of September:

  • Start your day with an early morning swim
  • Break your day up and swim on your lunch break
  • Unwind after a long day with an evening swim
  • Take a longer swim at the weekend
  • Break your sessions up

What are the health benefits of swimming regularly?

  • Improved heart health
  • Improved mental wellbeing
  • Improved physical fitness
  • Reduced stress
  • Better sleep
  • Increased energy
