Join us for our virtual Forget-Me-Not Celebration this summer - Isabel Hospice

Isabel Hospice is inviting those who have loved and lost to join our annual Forget-Me-Not Celebration to honour the life of someone special this summer.

For the second year running due to the coronavirus pandemic, the celebration ceremony will be taking place online on Saturday 17th July at 3pm. There will be the opportunity to hear readings, music and poems as well as see the names of loved ones appear on screen.

Led by our Chief Executive Helen Glenister and Clinical Director Elizabeth Paske, the celebration is a way to remember a loved one and to reflect on the happy memories shared.

Elizabeth said: “At Isabel Hospice, we truly understand how it can feel to lose a loved one. We know each person’s grief is unique to them and supporting families through bereavement is an important part of the care we offer.

“The past 18 months have been particularly hard for those who have lost someone close to them, and although the Covid-19 pandemic may have robbed many of us of precious final moments together, there are still ways to mourn and remember those we love in a meaningful way.

“Our annual Forget-Me-Not service is a poignant celebration of the people who have meant the most to us, as well as a way of helping to support all the good work the Hospice does to support families at a time when they need us the most.”

As in previous years, beautiful handcrafted Forget-Me-Not flowers to dedicate in memory of someone dear are available to purchase from www.isabelhospice.org.uk/flower or by calling the Forget-Me-Not dedication line on 01707 382500 option 6 (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm). The suggested donation is £25. Dedications must be made by Friday 9th July to ensure your loved one’s name features in the celebration film.

Custom-made by the British Ironwork Centre, each stunning flower measures 17cm in diameter and 43cm in length and is a beautiful lasting tribute to place in your garden for many years to come.

Due to Covid-19, the Hospice has unfortunately been unable to have a newly-designed Forget-Me-Not made for 2021, however there are special edition gold and blue versions to choose from. A limited number of blue Forget-Me-Not are available, so people are encouraged to make their dedication early while stocks last.

The Forget-Me-Nots will be available to collect from Isabel’s head office in Welwyn Garden City from Monday 12th July onwards.

Whichever flower you choose, every dedication helps the Hospice raise the vital funds it needs each and every day to continue making a meaningful difference to the lives of those with a terminal or life-limiting condition living across eastern Hertfordshire.

Everyone who makes a dedication will also receive a pin badge and limited edition print.

One Isabel Hospice relative said: “I have placed the Forget-Me-Not in my garden in remembrance of my mum; she was a keen gardener and I know she would love the flower.

“Not only is it beautiful, but it gives me a special space at home to remember her.”

The Forget-Me-Not celebration will be available to view at www.isabelhospice.org.uk/celebration.
