Liz Seaman has retired as a volunteer of Isabel Hospice after 35 Years. Liz joined in 1990 and attended the usual induction course once a week for eight weeks, during which she joined a lively group learning about the ethos of Hospice Care, the cancer journey, care for patients and also support and help during bereavement.
Liz has been dedicated to Isabel Hospice over the years, and she says that it meant everything to her becoming part of the volunteer team and interacting with patients and families.
Most of her work was with bereavement support and her understanding and kindness to families has been so appreciated by us all through the years. Liz was a bereavement volunteer until 2021, being very involved with the Grief Encounter Group up until Christmas of that year, when she spoke at the Lights of Love Service.
Liz was diagnosed with cancer in January 2022 and has undergone treatment since. She found it hard becoming a patient at Living Well after so much time helping patients and the bereaved. She continues to visit the Living Well Hub through her weekly attendance to the Thursday Tai Chi class.
Liz and husband Rick celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in March and in lieu of gifts asked for donations to Isabel Hospice. Liz is indeed one of our longest serving volunteers and I would like to pay tribute to her dedication and love for Isabel Hospice and for the patients and families in our care.
