Liz and Rick’s Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebrations Raises Over £800 for Isabel Hospice!
Liz and her husband, Rick, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in March and wanted to use the opportunity to raise funds for Isabel Hospice.
After 50 years of marriage, with over 30 of those years spent volunteering for Isabel Hospice, many of which were with the bereavement support team, Liz and Rick decided they would prefer donations to Isabel Hospice instead of gifts.
This was especially important for Liz, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and following her diagnosis, received support from the Living Well with Isabel team. Every Thursday, Liz still continues to attend Tai Chi classes at the Living Well Centre, she shared, “It is a friendly, supportive group, and the exercise helps me as I try to regain my strength.”
Following Liz and Rick’s golden wedding anniversary celebrations they were delighted to have raised over £800 in support of Isabel Hospice. Liz said, “We wanted to celebrate our Golden Wedding with our family (including five grandchildren). We decided to do so with a couple of family parties, and a small gathering of some of our close friends.”
This incredible amount raised could help pay for over 24 hours of bereavement support for family members who have lost or are soon to lose a loved one.
Barbara Doherty MBE, Isabel Hospice President, recognised Liz’s long term support for Isabel Hospice stating, “Liz is indeed one of our longest serving volunteers and I would like to pay tribute to her dedication and love for Isabel Hospice and for the patients and families in our care.”
