The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Bob Deering, met with Isabel Hospice clinical staff and volunteers when he was invited to the In-Patient Unit to present a cheque for £2,536 in support of the invaluable work the Welwyn Garden City-based charity carries out.
Isabel Hospice is one of the Mayor’s chosen charities for his elected term 2021/22.
Cllr Deering said: “I was so pleased to visit Isabel Hospice’s In-Patient Unit the other day. This is a facility that can accommodate up to eight patients and visiting family members and provide all the nursing and other support needed. The visit brought home at a stroke not just that Isabel Hospice does great work, but the scale of the funding required to keep the show on the road. They are an immensely worthy cause. I was pleased with the funding we raised in difficult lockdown circumstances last year and I hope that with everyone’s support we’ll be able to do even better this year.”
Isabel Hospice Life President Barbara Doherty MBE, welcomed the Mayor to the In-Patient Unit, alongside Head of In-Patient Services Andy Kilduff and Head of Events Adam Brocket,. During his visit he learnt about the work of the Hospice and the specialist care given to patients by its multi-disciplinary team.
Barbara said: “The continued support of the Mayor of Hertford has been a great boost to the Hospice over the past 18 months. During lockdown he was able to significantly raise the profile of the Hospice and our care for patients and their families. We thank him for his support and understanding of our work in the local community.”
