A prestigious luncheon in the place where Elizabeth I learned of her accession to the throne will herald a series of special events organised by Isabel Hospice’s Life President to mark the charity’s 40th anniversary.
There are a few tickets remaining for the 40th Anniversary Luncheon in the presence of Lord and Lady Salisbury taking place in the historic Old Palace at Hatfield House on Thursday, April 21st – exactly 40 years to the day that the Hospice’s first trustee meeting was held in 1982.
Reception drinks will be served in the beautiful Knot Garden before a two-course luncheon with wine served in the venue’s medieval banqueting hall. Tickets cost £60 a head.
The event is the first of four commemorative fundraisers being staged by Barbara Doherty MBE and the Hospice’s special events committee throughout 2022 to celebrate the charity’s milestone year.
Barbara said: “We are proud to be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Isabel Hospice. Isabel Last, our founder, had the vision to create a hospice service and this continues today providing vital and loving care to patients and their families across the whole of eastern Hertfordshire. We thank our staff, volunteers and the local community for 40 years of marvellous support.”
The second event is an ABBA party night with the international smash-hit tribute act Thank You for the Music on Saturday, June 11th . Combining the unmistakable harmonies and colourful costumes of the Swedish group, the tribute show, being held in the Meadow Barn at Tewin Bury Farm, will feature all the band’s best-known dancefloor fillers including Waterloo, Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and more. There will also be food, a silent auction and a raffle. Tickets are £75.
The ABBA party night will be followed on Thursday, September 15th by An Evening with The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen. The evening will begin with wine and canapes in the Tythe Barn at Tewin Bury Farm followed by an hour’s talk, Q&A session and book signing by the writer and TV personality, who will be sharing the challenges, rewards and realities of life on the farm in rural North Yorkshire. Tickets are £35.
The fourth and final event to round off Isabel’s anniversary year is the ever-popular Christmas at the Manor event at the Manor of Groves Hotel in Sawbridgeworth on Wednesday, November 16th.
The festive shopping extravaganza is an opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early, with a variety of stallholders selling cards, fashion and gifts. Tickets, which include lunch, are £40 per person.
