Isabel Hospice is immensely proud to announce that long-standing volunteer Renee Friend has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the New Year’s Honours List. This prestigious accolade celebrates Renee’s extraordinary 40-year commitment to the Hospice, where she has made an indelible impact as a patient and family support volunteer and fundraising ambassador.
For nearly four decades, Renee has been a cornerstone of Isabel Hospice’s mission to provide compassionate, free palliative care to patients and their families across eastern Hertfordshire. Renee’s tireless dedication has not only provided comfort to countless individuals but has also played a vital role in raising the essential funds needed to sustain these life-changing services.
Renee is warmly known as the face of Isabel Hospice in her hometown of Bishop’s Stortford and the surrounding villages.
Speaking about the honor, Renee shared:
“When I found out, I felt amazement, then delight. It is such a privilege to be recognised for my work with Isabel Hospice, which has always been so close to my heart. To contribute to a cause that changes lives every day has been its own reward.”
