It is Trustees Week this week and we have asked Isabel Hospice Trustee, Claire Jackon, some questions on her role. Our trustees are volunteers and are vital to our organisation. If you would like to be apart of our volunteer community. Please visit https://joinus.isabelhospice.org.uk/volunteer-with-us
- Why did you become a trustee?
I became a trustee to use my clinical skills and knowledge to support the local community as I work in a national capacity. The Hospice is an amazing service with so many different areas to get involved, clinical, Living Well, charity shops, eBay and now even Total Clean. I feel very proud to be able to be an ambassador for Isabel Hospice.
- What do you like about being a trustee at Isabel Hospice?
The Hospice has an appetite for innovative thinking to achieve its fundraising. The team of Trustees are professional, friendly, and dedicated, we come from all walks of life bringing different skills to the group which enables creative problem solving. It is great to know I am giving something back to the local community and learning from the role.
- What’s your advice to anyone interested in becoming a trustee?
It’s a great way to join a friendly team and support a fantastic local organisation that relies on charitable funds. You can give your time to the various sub committees to the board and play to your strengths or stretch yourself into new areas. The Hospice relies on volunteers who are all passionate about the part they play, I am always amazed at the stories of how they have become volunteers and how vital the Hospice services are to the community.
