ABOUT THE COURSE
This one‑day course equips all health and social care professionals with the knowledge and confidence to uphold human rights when supporting people approaching the end of life. Whether you work in a hospital, community setting, care home, or support services, you’ll learn how the Human Rights Act underpins compassionate, person‑centred care and helps you meet regulatory and professional standards.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- highlight current national context and expectations around end‑of‑life and palliative care
- identify the key articles within the human rights act most relevant to end of life care
- ensure a human‑rights approach to support ethical, defensible decision-making in complex or sensitive situations
- bring human rights consideration to MDT discussion, best interest decision and discharge planning
- identify, raise and navigate human‑rights concerns for your patients within your role
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is relevant to all health and social care professionals who may support people with serious, life‑limiting conditions—including those who may not identify their work as end-of-life care.

- Acute and community healthcare settings

- Care homes and domiciliary care
