ABOUT THE COURSE

This half day course provides an overview of an introduction to palliative care to give non-clinicians the knowledge required to support their colleagues, patients, families and the community we live in.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

• What is palliative care?
• Who is palliative care for?
• Holistic assessment – seeing the whole person
• What is dying like?
• The benefit of a team approach
• Importance of looking after yourself

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course is for any non-clinician who supports palliative patients in their role. This may be as a receptionist, secretary or admin staff working within a GP surgery or hospital. It may be as a fundraiser or someone who works in a hospice setting who wants to gain a better understanding of what palliative care is. This course is also open to anyone working in a religious setting who may support anyone receiving palliative care.
