ABOUT THE COURSE
A one-day interactive Level 2 course which seeks to look at the needs of children experiencing loss and grief in more depth with a view to enable attendees to reflect on how they support children now and how they may improve this support. This course will be led by Isabel Hospice Children’s Counsellor & Coordinator and builds on the Level 1 course. This course is aimed at those directly supporting bereaved children.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
• Acquire more meaning to support needs
• Varying factors affecting the grief process and how the shape of support should look
• The shape of a supporting relationship
• Understand the boundaries in offering support; what to look for and where to refer on
• To demonstrate and discuss strategies that can be put in place to support children’s loss and grief
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
All staff working within a school setting who would like a greater understanding of supporting children who experience loss including family support workers. Attendees should have completed Level 1 training to ensure there is a foundation and understanding of bereavement and loss.
