Are you qualified counsellor? Do you have 3-4 hours a week to spare?
We are looking for volunteer counsellors to work within our Family Support team. Last year, we cared for 1,555 people and we are planning to care for more people, earlier in their journey.
Andrea Tett, Bereavement Services Manager, said: “When Princes Harry and William recently spoke about how the death of their mother affected them in growing up, the world stopped and took notice. It became more acceptable to seek bereavement counselling which is a really good thing.
“As a result we have seen a large increase in people asking for help, and so we are now looking for qualified integrative volunteer counsellors to join our friendly, supportive Bereavement Support Team.
“The team is a mix of professionally trained counsellors and trained bereavement support workers. We see people at the Hospice in Welwyn Garden City and also visit in their own homes across eastern Hertfordshire. You would need to be a registered BACP member or equivalent, and have had experience of working with grief and bereavement. Clinical Supervision is provided monthly and travelling expenses will be paid.”
Here is what one volunteer had to say about our service:
“Following intensive training with Andrea, Isabel’s Bereavement Services Manager, I joined the Bereavement Support Team as a volunteer in autumn 2017. I am proud to be part of such a supportive, caring team, who provide a fantastic service to the community.”
