Tribute to Isabel trustee Michael Freeman - Isabel Hospice

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Michael Freeman in our In-Patient Unit last Sunday 1st July.

Barbara Doherty, Isabel Hospice President said: “Michael was appointed a Trustee of Isabel Hospice in 2002 and served as Chairman of Trustees from 2006 – 2011. It was obvious from the beginning of his involvement with Isabel Hospice that Michael would be a trusted and dedicated supporter of the Hospice, and so this proved to be over the years that followed.

“Michael was a modest man, diligent and thorough, but kind and supportive to staff and volunteers. He knew them all by name and was adept at finding out about their lives and interests. His special interests of football, gardening, and in particular his allotment, made him good company and fun to be alongside.

“Michael was diagnosed with cancer some months ago, but was still able to enjoy his beautiful garden at home in Watton at Stone. It was an honour to have known and worked with Michael, and for the Hospice to have been able to care for him in his last days. The thoughts of all at Isabel Hospice are with Debra, his wife and his many close friends.

Michael’s funeral was held Tuesday 10th July at Harwood Park Crematorium, Watton Road, Datchworth, Stevenage, SG2 8X. It was well attended by many who knew and loved him. “
