Being diagnosed with a life-limiting illness is one of the toughest journeys anyone will have to face. But fundraising for your local Hospice so no one has to walk that path alone is as easy as putting one foot in front of the other.
Isabel Hospice’s flagship Fountain to Fountain Hike on Saturday 25th June is now in less than four week’s time – and the charity is calling on its supporters to sign up today!
Now in its second year, the Hospice’s approximately 16-mile walking challenge is again being run in conjunction with Letchworth-based Garden House Hospice Care, with the event linking the two beautiful garden cities.
Starting from Letchworth’s historic Broadway Gardens and finishing at Welwyn’s iconic Coronation Fountain in Parkway, the predominantly traffic-free route offers the chance to walk some of the area’s rarely trodden trails, encompassing stunning scenic views and ancient woodland deep within the Hertfordshire countryside.
Isabel’s challenge and events manager Lindsay Hunter said: “Whether you choose to walk in memory of a loved one, or simply for the enjoyment of a day exploring the great outdoors, you can be sure that every step you take, and every pound you raise, will make a meaningful difference to the lives of our patients, and the people who love them.
“Some 170 walkers from across north and east Hertfordshire turned out for our inaugural hike last summer, helping to raise £25,000 for our two Hospices so we can continue to provide our free end-of-life care to our local communities, which together cover a combined population of over half a million people.
“This year, we would like to see even more of you on the day, especially as 2022 marks Isabel’s 40th anniversary celebrating four decades of incredible care for local families who rely on our skilled, compassionate care and support. We would love to see you there – together, we can keep on caring today, tomorrow and long into the future.”
