Isabel staff and volunteers come together at 40th anniversary tea parties - Isabel Hospice

Where would we be without our wonderful volunteers?

They truly are the backbone of our organisation and it would have been impossible to achieve all that we have over the past four decades without their passion and dedication to helping us achieve our vision of outstanding palliative care for all.

As an expression of our gratitude, we have been hosting a series of special 40th anniversary tea parties to say thank you for all the many invaluable ways they contribute to our work.

Our volunteer engagement lead Caroline Baynes said: “It’s true to say that without our volunteers there would be no Isabel Hospice. Whether they have fundraised for us, helped at an event, supported our shops, offered a listening ear or hand to hold to a family in times of crisis, or given their time in other countless ways, their value to us is immeasurable.

We are grateful to each and every person who has given so freely of their time, experience and expertise over 40 years of incredible care. They have helped shape the Hospice into what it is today. We are delighted to share some celebratory images from these events as a tribute to our volunteers in this National Volunteer Week 1st-7th June 2022.”

Thank you tea parties

The tea parties were a fantastic opportunity to celebrate 40 years of providing palliative care in Eastern Hertfordshire, to meet colleagues and volunteers from other teams, and to look forward to the next 40 years.  They were held in three wonderful locations, Homestead Court Hotel in Welwyn Garden City, Ware Priory and Great Hadham Country Club.

If you would like to become part of our volunteer team, and help change the lives of the people who need our specialist care, our next Volunteer Information Sessions are on Saturday 18th June at 11:00am. People of all ages and abilities from all walks of life are welcome to attend as we have roles to suit almost anybody, and no previous experience is necessary.

On the day, there will be the chance to meet our friendly team and hear about the impact you could make, whether that is by making a regular commitment or helping with a one-off project. If you have a particular skill or interest that you think could benefit our charity, we would love to see you there.

The Volunteer Information Session takes place at the Living Well with Isabel Community Hub in Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City. Refreshments will be available.
