Tribute to Richard Walduck OBE, DL, JP 1941 – 2020 – Patron Isabel Hospice
It was with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Richard Walduck on 6th January. Richard died peacefully at home at Lower Woodside, Hatfield with his family at his bedside.
Richard was a Patron of Isabel Hospice from 1998 until his death.
He was a champion of hospice care and was always supportive of our work. He understood the importance of our service to the local community and was ready to promote the Hospice in any way he could, in particular by attending and sponsoring events and even supplying sunflower seeds for our sunflower challenges.
He also supported the Forum of Hospice Chairmen by allowing them to use his Imperial Hotels in London for conferences and meetings.
He was a proud Hertfordshire man and his year as High Sheriff 1997-1998 was a highlight for all in the county.
We will miss his presence, his friendship, wit and kindness and send our love and best wishes to his wife Susie and his family.
