ABOUT THE COURSE
Many patients requiring symptom control are cared for outside of specialist palliative settings. This one-day course is for nurses or paramedics working in all areas to develop an understanding of how to manage common palliative care symptoms and palliative care emergencies.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the importance of a good assessment
- Explore management/treatment options for common symptoms including nausea and vomiting, agitation and delirium and breathlessness
- Recognise what constitutes a palliative care emergency and how to manage them
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is aimed at Band 5/6 clinicians working in any healthcare setting. This course is ideal for clinicians in all areas who want to build confidence in recognising and managing palliative care symptoms.
