Course Facilitator
May Pheasant
This course will be facilitated by May Pheasant, Heart Failure Palliation Clinical Nurse Specialist, Isabel Hospice. May has been heart a failure palliation CNS at Isabel Hospice since 2018. Prior to that, she was the specialist palliative care CNS at East and North Herts Trust (QEII and Lister hospitals) for 16 years. She holds a degree in Palliative Nursing. May’s role is to ensure heart failure patients receive the same level of support, care and advance care planning as patients with cancer.

An evening session for GP’s on managing end stage heart failure in the community.
Session Objectives;
- Review current guidelines on symptom management of common symptoms – breathlessness, nausea/vomiting, itching, constipation, anxiety, use of diuretics – developments around s/c furosemide
- Psychological needs
- What the hospice can offer end stage heart failure patients
- Medication management in final days
- Just in Case drugs
